CA: City of Belmont Adopts Minimum Wage Ordinance

New Minimum Wage Rates Begin July 1, 2018
The City of Belmont, California has adopted a minimum wage ordinance. Under the ordinance, an employer generally must pay an employee at least the wage rates below for each hour worked within the geographic boundaries of Belmont:
- Beginning July 1, 2018: .50 per hour.
- Beginning January 1, 2019: .50 per hour.
- Beginning January 1, 2020: .00 per hour.
- Beginning January 1, 2021: .90 per hour.
- Beginning January 1, 2022 (and each January thereafter): adjusted for inflation.
The ordinance also contains (among other things) posting and recordkeeping requirements.
Click here to read the ordinance. While the ordinance is effective 30 days after its adoption on November 28, 2017, the new local wage rates do not begin until July 2018.
